The Zonta Club of Berry is launching its annual “16 Days of Activism” from 25 Nov 2025 to 10 Dec 2025 at Broughton Court, Berry NSW by adorning trees with orange ribbons, and symbolic orange shoes that represent a life lost to domestic violence.
Our “16 Days of Activism” opens on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 Nov 25), includes World Aids Day (1 Dec 25) and ends on Human Rights Day (10 Dec 25).
It’s part of Zonta International’s campaign taking a stand against the devastating pandemic of violence against women by raising awareness of women’s rights violations. It also highlights the alarming statistics of domestic violence across Australia and within the Shoalhaven region.
Across Australia, a woman loses her life to domestic violence every six days. In the year leading up to June 2023, domestic violence-related homicides in the Shoalhaven area reached nearly twice the New South Wales average.
We encourage everyone to visit Broughton Court during this period to reflect on the impact of domestic violence and to join the movement to end it. Each ribbon, each shoe, is a reminder of those lost and of our collective responsibility to create a safer world for women and girls.
