Part of A Day Well Spent in the Extend the Weekend program, this Great Southern Hotel Berry session brings full-band, touring-quality country and roots music to a relaxed pub setting. Expect big, energetic performances and close-up audience connection in the hotel’s main bar and deck. The session features Tropical Strength (5-6pm) and Jacob Fitzgerald & The Electric City (6:30 – 7:30pm).
Bookings are available (for dining) but not required – come early to grab a deck table or a bar stool.
Jacob Fitzgerald & The Electric City
Jacob Fitzgerald fronts a Melbourne-based rock/pop outfit known for hooky choruses, dynamic stagecraft and a four-piece live sound that moves from high-octane rock to tender balladry. Backed by melodic basslines, thundering drums and screaming sax, Fitzgerald’s distinctive vocals and songwriting make him a compelling frontman. The band’s live show blends anthemic rock with emotional, melody-driven songs — ideal for singalongs and encore moments.
Tropical Strength
Tropical Strength are an art-rock collective from the South Coast of NSW, led by brothers Alastair and Russell Webster. The band’s lineup shifts between intimate and epic — from duo to eight-piece — allowing them to build dense, cinematic soundscapes that weave memory, confession and fleeting revelation into songs that feel like a warped house of mirrors. Their new record, Tropical Strength and the Silverbeats, was tracked live to capture the band’s spontaneous dynamics in an Austinmer concrete studio; the album leans into nostalgia and surreal storytelling while preserving the energy of their live shows.
About a Day Well Spent
A Day Well Spent is Berry’s multi-venue, music-first series of Thursday locals’ nights and Sunday sessions that brings life to the precinct, supports hospitality businesses and creates dependable performance opportunities for musicians. It is part of the Extend the Weekend campaign. There are four music-led weekends planned – 19th & 22nd February (Country), 19th & 22nd March (Jazz & Blues), 21st & 24th May (Indie), and 18th & 21st June (Funk & Soul).
Supported by the NSW Uptown Grant Program – part of a statewide movement to revitalise regional town centres and help extend the weekend to support our hospitality businesses and live musicians and help our visitors live like a local in Berry.
